The Normal Christian Life

In reading the accounts of the revivals, I have come to a conclusion that anything short of this experience daily in our lives, we are in a back sliding position and don't know it!

I’m reminded of the words of Christ to the Church of Laodicea, the Church mind you, not to those who never knew Christ and I’m putting this word now in the place to which it belongs, for it has been used many times in the wrong way as an appeal to the unconverted, that Christ is standing outside the door of their lives knocking for entrance, this is untrue and has no scriptural grounds.  But He is standing at the Church’s door on the outside, Aye the outside.

Strange Times of Denial

A time of praying for Holy Ghost power while denying the Holy Ghost His rightful place. John Calvin affirmed, "The sin of the OT was the rejection of Jehovah God. The sin of the NT was the rejection of Jesus Christ the Son of God. And the sin of today the church age, is the rejection of the Holy Ghost."

A time of preaching great sermons but they are dead letters. "Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life" 2 Cor.3:6

A time of great learning in the Church, doctors of this and that, degrees in this 'ology' and that 'ology' and yet no personal knowledge or experience in the ways of God, nor personal acquaintance of the power of the Word of God.

Their knowledge did not sanctify. It only puffs them up and truly it's as quoted above “the letter killeth”

Murry Mc.shane said They speak from clear head-knowledge, or from past experience, but not from a present grasp of the truth—not from a present sight of the Lamb of God. Hence their words fall like a shower of snow,—fair and beautiful, but cold and freezing.

"Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus."

But does it not stand to spiritual reason that, we cannot know this great God by the intellect?  Dr. Lyman Abbot has said “truly that the profoundest truths of spiritual experience are those which are not intellectually ascertained, but spiritually discerned. They are not taught to us, but revealed. They defy definition, they transcend expression”.

A time of denying a big percentage of Scripture by placing themselves on a denominational pulpit saying, this Scripture or that Scripture is not for our time that was for the Apostles time and yet all the time maintaining that they belive and preach the whole council of God.
A time of blasphemy by many so-called ministers of religion, who sell their time by visiting the sick in hospital, they get so much for a call out! Others in preaching for money, I have heard of some pastors (retired) who would not 'stand in' to help in a church and preach without being paid. I can hardly credit this; it is so evil that it cries out for the judgement of God!
Surely this is another Ichabod time!
This is not the first time the “Glory of the Lord” had departed from Israel!
